Tango Pix: tangopix.com a SCAM 6

Dec13

Simple as that, Tango Pix is another company leeching off the hard workers of our society and they’re making a ton of money doing so. You all know us by now, we never post something accusing people without proof, something that could stand up in court, and we’re certainly not in the business of defaming honest individuals/companies, but this company, Tango Pix has got to be stopped. They’re a perfect example of what small vile businesses can do to a healthy community, corrupt it.

So what have they done? That’s not what you should be asking us, a better question would be, what haven’t they done!? From hiring people to wok for them, and not paying out, to providing their clients with fake services, copyrighted material and simply scraping and stealing other peoples work, these guys are a fine example of how a business should not run.

After receiving over 17 emails with sufficient proof this local RI Film and Video Production company, TangoPix, has ripped off over 8 freelancers with outstanding payments of over $78,000 in total, that’s money NOT paid. On top of that, several clients have tried to get their money back after finding out the work was not original and they in total were set back over about $32,500.

Numbers speak volume for this local RI (Rhode Island) company, over a $110,000 is a large number that not only speaks volume for how bad these guys need to be stopped, but screams for jail time.

Now we’re not going to accuse them, I mean they’re doing a great job of digging their own hole as we’ve been filled in that several legal charges are in the works and will be brought up against them, but this is a fine example of how Tango Pix, a small time business is raking in big bucks by scamming and stealing.

If you’re a victim, let us know, tell us your story and together we’ll make sure these guys are stopped and go out of business soon, the scamming business that is.

Quoting something from their about page:

Step inside Tango Pix and you’ll discover a creative production environment, supported by an exceptional team of media professionals who bring fresh, collaborative energy to help you accomplish your business goals. The Tango Pix leadership team has been working with clients to bring their stories to life using the most creative and effective solutions for over 30 years.

Let us help tell your story…

No thank you TangoPix, we don’t need your help telling peoples stories, it’s time we told you a story of our own, and this one wont have a happy ending for YOU! Bad Karma always comes back to haunt those that feed off the unsuspecting and innocent.

Update: Tango Pix seems to have changed their company name to First Priority Media. The site TangoPix.com now redirects to www.firstprioritymedia.com

Please, do not be fooled by this, techniques such as this are used by scammers all the time, it’s called running for the hills with their tail between their legs. I’m sure you’ll all be interested to know that we’ve already been contacted by an individual planning on taking them to court. We’ll post an update once we know more about that.

Second Update: We’ve received info that states Tango Pix filed for a form of bankruptcy called receivership and paid the bank pennies on the dollar and somehow came out completely debt free. The one rule is they have to start a new company so they have started “First Priority Media” in the exact same location and with the same team. They are also still running a side company called Kerouac Films that makes motion pictures and our source does not believe it was affected by any of this.

What bothers us the most is that it seems Tango Pix was not the first ship of theirs to sink, it could have been the same stunt pulled before, and before. No one at Tango Pix or firstprioritymedia.com (that funnily enough had 10days to launch up on their site before this new info was added, and now states 255days) has contacted us to clarify or argue all this. Whether we will be contacted in the future or not is not important. We hope that they clean up their act and that people working with them do so with their guard up.

I’m glad this has been brought up, my best friend worked with Tango Pix and they totally scammed him out of his money. They owed him thousands for work he did and they never paid him for all those months of hard work. They still haven’t! Please let me know if I can help in anyway, i’ll be forwarding this link to him to read and say his part. I’m sure he’ll be willing to provide you with all the info you need on what happened. He would have taken them to court but he just doesn’t have the money for legal representation and they sure do.

  4. Tango Pix also owns a film company called Kerouac Films that has successfully and recently produced films based on the works of Jack Kerouac. However, the money from that work never goes back to Tango Pix and through to the people they owe money to, it goes right into the pocket of owner Curt Worden, his wife and a small group of fellow frauds.

We were paid but it took tons of calls and emails to get what was owed to us. More work was spent trying to get paid, than work done. And it was BS excuse after BS excuse for why we had not received any checks. The interesting thing is how RI Film office promotes this company to big dogs like Showtime. Thank you for voicing this! I know quite a few folks in RI who will enjoy the read and post the same frustration with Tango and RI Film Office.

  6. Tango Pix now First Priority Media says:

Wonder why they are now changing their company from Tango Pix to First Priority Media.
