Wordpress 2.7 the Wordpress Saga Continues
Written by admin on August 18, 2008 – 4:07 pm -However way you look at it, Wordpress is by far one of the most popular blogging software online. It has evolved so rapidly over the years that it seems even wordpress developers can’t keep up with it anymore. After the somewhat successful yet bug filled wordpress 2.6, wordpress 2.61 came out to fix that, supporting minor bugs here and there itself. Now what strikes us as odd is that wordpress 2.7 was announced to be on the way, ‘before’ wordpress 2.61 was even released, this leads us to speculate that wordpress developers are in a hurry to release version 2.7, which as some have said, is a bad call.
Rushing production on an open source project update is never the best way to go, beating the expected release date is also not or at least we hope is not a goal for the wordpress team. This only means that things will get overlooked and that has us wondering, when is wordpress 2.71 coming out? We understand that wordpress is ever changing, updating and evolving, but what we don’t get, and frankly don’t appreciate, is their developers knocking a month off the scheduled release just to provide us with something that’s bound to break up our themes, break our plugins, and pretty much give us a hard time.
A word of advice, don’t rush to update your blog, wait until enough people have tested wordpress 2.7 before using it, who knows, by the time you’re satisfied wordpress might release a 2.71 version that has some security patches of some sort. it has happened many times before, and even then when you end up upgrading to wordpress 2.71, wordpress would have released wordpress 2.8!

Kirupa Flash Forums kirupa.com being mean?
Written by admin on August 15, 2008 – 9:40 am -At Kirupa forums, you’ll find some of the most talented flash designers around, it’s really an interesting place that we have checked out, lots of creative people there and the contests seem to be of the highest caliber. Thumbs up there! But, we are sadly reporting what seems to be a black patch, or is it a black cloud, that lingers over this great forum. Members, who believe it is ‘their’ forum, seem to have a venomous way with new members. Bashing them? Embarrassing them? Calling them names? There must be something wrong here. Time to find out I guess.
Are new members falling victims to cyber bullying and forum trolling/flaming by older members? Are Kirupa.com’s admins/mods allowing this to go on under the radar so as to keep older members happy? We’re not sure, but from the screen shots we were sent by one new member there, we’re sickened as to how things were left.
Threatened? Called names? Disrespected and ridiculed, some might think we’re exaggerating, but trust me, we’re not. Now we looked into it to see if this sort of thing has happened before, and to our disbelief, it has, several times. Why are people allowed to be offensive if it clearly states otherwise in Kirupa’s rules?!?!!? Come on Kirupa, do something about it, they’re messing up a beautiful and respectable forum there! Screenshots sent by the victim show comments such as “have you missed an additional zero perhaps” (for the budget) and things like, “Someone didn’t have their froot loops this morning…” as well as accusations of trying to cheat people and scam them, noting that some kirupa members look out for each other?! All this because someone had a low budget of $150?

The section highlighted above shows a topic in question, $150 for a simple edit of a tool it seems, this is the topic in question, the one that was deleted by request of the topic starter because he was slammed with hate comments for offering an on budget price? Are you kidding us? Why have a LOW PROFILE section if you expect people to pay $x,xxx!?
This is beyond being rude and offencive, maybe someone from Kirupa would care to enlighten us? Maybe explain how things are done there and why new members don’t feel welcome. We’re sad to report that a great forum with so much creativity like that is now on our black list of bad services.
If you want to look for help, advice, and not get hated on, Kirupa, sadly, does not seem to be the place for that.

Anti-Scam Community Forum
Written by admin on August 3, 2008 – 4:56 pm -With over 10,000 unique visitors landing on our site (which has been neglected as of late) every month, we decided to launch a community forum to better help people out with problems, and that way more valuable content can be provided on a regular basis. Our site is a none profit site, we don’t make anything out of running it and we plan to keep it that way we just hope you understand that if we’re late in replying to your emails (which we eventually reply to), it’s because the site is not our number 1 priority right now, watshit is something we enjoy doing in our spare time. All of us at Watshit.com feel strongly about scams and bad services online and we’ll up the tempo and attempt to post here on a daily basis.
Now for those that believe we should start a community please back us up by commenting so we know how many people would be interested. Thank you so very much for being loyal readers, and we hope we have helped some of you somehow.
Watshit.com Team.
